Built in 1904 by a wealthy lumberman and shipwright, the historic Christmas House Inn & Gardens was designed as a place to entertain Southern California’s high society. This grand Victorian was home to weddings, celebrations, and an annual Christmas party so lavish it gave the house its name. The craftsmanship of the house – from the grand redwood staircase to the hand-carved mantels of the seven fireplaces – was meant to impress, as was the 80 acres of ranch and vineyards that would later give way to citrus groves.
In 1983, the current owners fell in love with the elegance of the old estate, even in its state of disrepair. They dedicated themselves to restoring the house to its classical charm and creating traditional, romantic gardens in the acre that remained. The house once again is home to special occasions as one of Southern California’s premier garden wedding venues. You are invited to become part of the tradition as you plan your own celebration.
